The city skyline is impressive with shimmering glass high-rises and 100-year-old buildings standing side by side. This beautiful port city came into its own after gold was discovered in the Klondike and 100,000 people passed through the Northwest in 1897 and 1898 on their quest for wealth in Alaska Visit the Klondike Gold Rush Museum or the Space Needle by day and enjoy a vibrant jazz nightlife in turn-of-the-century Pioneer Square where the city first took root.

Tracy Arm | Thursday, Aug 03, 2023 | Thursday, Aug 03, 2023 |
Located about 45 miles south of Juneau, Tracy Arm, a classic fjord located in the heart of the Tracy Arm-Fjords Terror Wilderness, stands out as a "must see" for any Alaska vacation. The icebergs are framed by sheer mountain peaks reaching to 7,000 feet. Waterfalls flow from ice covered mountains to the jade colored inland sea. Tracy Arm is the summer home for pigeon guillemots, kittiwakes and arctic terns. Usually mountain goats are seen on the rocky slopes near Sawyer Glacier. They have been known to come down near the water. The best bear viewing is along the shores of Stephens Pass or Holkham Bay, and there are whales and seals.
Skagway | Friday, Aug 04, 2023 | Friday, Aug 04, 2023 |
This "Gateway to the Klondike" watched as fortune-seekers headed to Chilkoot and White Pass Trails during Alaska's Gold Rush. Today, feel like a prospector in Skagway, as you walk along its rustic boardwalks and frontier-style storefronts. This cozy town offers a pleasant respite from the hustle and bustle of most cities. With classic cars and one of the oldest narrow-gauge railroads in the world, the city retains the flavor of days gone by and remains an important link to Alaska's history. A stroll down Broadway is a must. Highlights include Arctic Brotherhood Hall. Other buildings like the Trail of '98 Museum, Corrington's Museum of Alaskan History and the Alaskan Wildlife Adventure and Museum present different facets of prospecting times. Before hitting famous Chilkoot Trail, there are other well-marked trails to try. Hiking to Lower Dewey Lake is an easy, 20-minutes, and there are more adventurous trails to remote Sturgill's Landing, Upper Dewey Lake and Devil's Punchbowl. The White Pass Scenic Railway and Eagle Preserve Wildlife Quest provide additional options.
Juneau | Saturday, Aug 05, 2023 | Saturday, Aug 05, 2023 |
Juneau is one of America's most beautiful state capitals, with the looming summits of Mt. Juneau and Mt. Roberts providing a gorgeous backdrop. Once part of Alaska's Gold Rush, the city boasts natural and manmade attractions. Downtown is filled with many vibrant buildings, including must-see St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, which houses artwork and artifacts dating back to the 18th century. From the bright mural in Marine Park to the carvings in House of Wickersham, downtown is filled with Alaska's own unique brand of culture and architecture. Often hailed as Juneau's most impressive sight, nearby Mendenhall Glacier is approximately 12 miles long and 1.5 miles wide. See the glacier on a float trip or a "flightseeing" adventure, or hike up one of its trails for a closer inspection. For a bird's-eye view, the Mt. Roberts Tramway offers a short, six-minute trek to the top of Mt. Roberts, 1800 feet above the city. If wildlife is your passion, scenic Admiralty Island has the world's highest concentration of brown bears.
Ketchikan | Sunday, Aug 06, 2023 | Sunday, Aug 06, 2023 |
Ketchikan is known as "Alaska's First City" because it's the first major community travelers come to as they travel north. The city is built on steep hillsides and is billed as salmon capital of the world. A quaint village, the town is three miles long and three blocks wide. With fishing boats sailing in and float planes ascending from the water, this seaside town is bustling with activity. With the world's largest collection of totem poles, Totem Bight State Historical Park offers insight into various native cultures of the Pacific Northwest. These wood-carved creations tell colorful, intricate tales – often showing a family history or depicting a local legend. Ketchikan has many options for adventure of relaxation, including mountain bike tours, sea kayaking, seaplane riding, or strolling down the boardwalk of Creek Street, Ketchikan's most famous section with a historic cable car and quaint boutiques. Blessed with an abundance of hiking trails, Ketchikan offers many breathtaking vistas, including the panoramic, 360-degree view from the top of Deer Mountain.
Victoria, B.C. | Monday, Aug 07, 2023 | Monday, Aug 07, 2023 |
British culture and island informality collide in Victoria. This sophisticated seaside city is full of historic sites, parks and gardens. Take a walking tour - many of which begin at Parliament Buildings at Victoria's Inner Harbor. Combined with majestic Empress Hotel, these monumental buildings give the city a regal European feel. See equally impressive modern structures, such as Royal British Columbia History Museum, or replicas of large, native Northwest Indian houses at Thunderbird Park. Unique attractions include Undersea Gardens, Miniature World, Maritime Museum, Chinatown and Royal London Wax Museum. A memorable places to visit is world-famous Butchart Gardens, with 5,000 fauna varieties. The dazzling gardens on Saanich Inlet are beautiful at night, when hundreds of lights sparkle along winding paths. Additional gardens in Victoria include Crystal Garden and the gardens surrounding Government House and near Craigdarroch Castle, a towering Victorian mansion complete with a tower and turrets. Tour this city in a horse-drawn carriage.

Submit Your Own Review!Cruise Director was awesome and available; very approachable, bedding/beds comfortable, good water pressure, nice size balconey
Pros: Cruise Director was awesome and available; very approachable, bedding/beds comfortable, good water pressure, nice size balconey
Cons: pools too small, games were pricey and out of our reach
Review: would love to see more free activities and better drink specials
The staff was fantastic
Pros: The staff was fantastic
Cons: The main dining food was just ok. The ship decor is very dated
Review: The staff were fantastic! The musicians on board were amazing! Guys burger joint was absolutely delicious!
Excellent Service
Pros: Excellent Service
Cons: Time flies
Review: This was our first cruise and definitely exceeded our expectations!! We are ready to book our next one! The staff was amazing! Great customer service from everyone! From getting on the ship to getting off the ship they were very helpful and organized. We loved Supriyanto and Edaniel that did great on keeping our rooms very clean daily. Adinta, Tinton, and Manisha that always made sure we enjoyed our dinners and always had the best recommendations on what to pick from the daily menu! Couldn't forget about the the best bartender's Benjawan and Prakash always mixing the best drinks to enjoy by the pool or really anywhere;) We can't forget dj TJ that made just everything more fun and always keeping us up with the important announcements.
The Carnival Freedom was overall amazing. The dining staff really went above and beyond.
Pros: The Carnival Freedom was overall amazing. The dining staff really went above and beyond.
Cons: One thing I didn’t appreciate was being ignored at the atrium bar and have to wait 30+ min for a drink when there were only 5 people at the bar. We also didn’t see our cabin steward after the initial introduction, but the steward responsible for the rooms next to us, Aleksandar, alway said hello in the hallways and asked how our day was.
Review:
food was good, excursions were very enjoyable
Pros: food was good, excursions were very enjoyable
Cons: older ship and the decor was very strange and dark
Review: We enjoyed this trip and for the most part I rate the Freedom favorably, but the decor of the ship was dark and just didn't have an upbeat cruise vibe. Activites on board were good and the evening entertainment was very enjoyable. Specialty restaurants were excellent. Enjoyed the Blue Iguana Cantina and Guy's Burger Joint. Loved that it was included in the cost of the cruise fare rather than an add on.
INCREDIBLE SERVICE! Great Value!
Pros: INCREDIBLE SERVICE! Great Value!
Cons: Better Variety of on-board shows?
Review: This was my (our) first cruise - took the whole family. My kids loved being able to meet up with other kids the same age (9, 11, 14) and spending the day together. We loved the dinner - every night there was something new, and always something interesting to try! The ports were great - we did some excursions through the cruise line, some not. The staff made the trip! Everybody was helpful and friendly to perfection! This was the best trip I have ever taken...
Great bang for the buck. Good food. Great cabin steward.
Pros: Great bang for the buck. Good food. Great cabin steward.
Cons: Cut backs in staff in all areas, slower service, less WOW factor.
Review: If you have cruised before then be prepared for a slight let down, it seems to be the Carnival way. Still a great cruise line, just not as polished and spectacular as it was. Every cruise, little things change, lessening the experience. Still a great value and good time. The embarkation process in Galveston was very smooth and fast. The food is always worth the cost alone, but you do get so much more than just food, making the cruise worthwhile. The Carnival Freedom is a comfortable ship, and I love the beds, bedding and pillows. We had a fantastic cabin steward, that made us feel welcome and taken care of. The ports of call are good, lots to see and do. Grand Cayman is always a favorite.
Great price, great service, great food, great entertainment. A great vacation to get away from it all.
Pros: Great price, great service, great food, great entertainment. A great vacation to get away from it all.
Cons: If you want to buy internet, it is very slow. But, it's vacation, right?
Review: We paid to take the "Behind the Scenes tour". It was worth the $90. Got to see back stage of the theater and dressing rooms. The engine room. The bridge and even met and got a picture with the captain! Toured the galley where all the delicious food is prepared. It is quite an operation to run a cruise ship so smoothly. Even got some cool souvenir gifts after the tour. Highly recommend it.
