| At the far end of Peloponnese, on the southern east coast of the peninsula looking on to Mirtoon Sea, stands Monemvasia. A distinctly shaped great rock rising from the sea only a few meters from the coast, it is often referred to as the "Gibraltar of Greece". On the north side of the bay there are a few houses in the small village of Old Monemvasia. Visit the cemetery where in 1989 the famous Greek poet Ioannis Ritsos was buried. The lower town of Monemvasia is called "the Fortress" today. A wall protects the lower town on three sides. There are several churches around like Panagia Chrisafitissa, Panagia Mirtidiotissa, Chistos Elkomenos, Agia Sofia. On the east side of the main square stands a house with a garden containing remains of the early Byzantine church. To the west, there is the "Stellakis" house that was reconstructed and gave a lot of information about the architectural details and appearance of the medieval town. A small zigzag path connects lower town with upper town. The Fort city of Monemvasia with a one and only gate turns dream into reality. | ||

| Katakolon is a port admired for beautiful beaches. Equally important, Katakolon is the gateway to Olympia, the great Panhellenic sanctuary. The site of ancient Olympia is situated at the foot of wooded Mount Kronos in an area of gentle hills; excavations began in 1875 and are considered one of archaeology’s great achievements. A direct consequence was the revival of Olympic Games by Baron Pierre de Coubertin; the first modern games were held in Athens in 1896. Today, visitors to Olympia are overwhelmed by the impact of ancient remains and their significance. The site’s most important excavations include numerous monuments, such as Temple of Zeus in the Sacred Precinct, Treasuries, and Stadium. There is an excellent Archaeological Museum with a large collection of bronzes, pottery and sculptures unearthed during the excavations. Each Silversea ship is equipped with a Medical Centre, which is customarily staffed by a doctor and nurse on 24-hour call when at sea. When docked, supplementary emergency care may also be obtained through local medical facilities.
At the time of booking, expectant mothers are required to supply a medical certificate establishing their fitness for travel at the time they are due to travel. Silversea is unable to accommodate women who have entered their twenty-fourth (24th) week of pregnancy during their voyage, and will not be responsible or liable for any complication relative to any pregnancy during the entire duration of the cruise or thereafter. Additionally, airlines may have restrictions that may differ from Silversea’s. Please contact your travel professional or airline.
In consideration of evolving consumer trends, and to further promote a safe, comfortable and enjoyable environment for all Silversea guests, staff and crew, the smoking policy was updated on January 1, 2013.
Smoking is NOT allowed in:
- Guest suites and guest suite verandas
- All Public Areas, Lounges and Bars
Smoking (including Cigars, Pipes and Cigarettes) is allowed in:
- The Connoisseur's Corner.
- In addition, tables and seating have been made exclusively available outside the Panorama Lounge, the Pool Bar, and specified areas of open decks.
- Tables and seating have been made available outside La Terrazza for cigarette smoking exclusively.
Guests who rely upon wheelchairs must bring their own. Please note that not all shore excursions are suitable for guests with impaired mobility.
All guests are required to report in writing to Silversea at the time their reservation is made:
- Any physical or mental condition that may require medical or professional treatment or attention during the voyage
- Any condition that may render the guest unfit for travel, or that may require special care or assistance
- Any condition that may pose a risk or danger to the guest or anyone else onboard the ship
- Any condition that may require oxygen for medical reasons
- Any intention or need to use a wheelchair aboard ship.
By booking passage and by boarding the ship, the guest represents and warrants that they are physically and otherwise fit to travel, and that the guest will comply at all times with applicable rules and regulations of the ship and orders and instructions of the ship's officers and medical staff. Silversea reserves the right, without liability, to require a guest to disembark and/or to refuse to board and transport a guest who, in the judgment of Silversea or the ship's Master, is unfit to travel or may require care beyond that which Silversea is reasonably able to provide. Those guests requiring wheel-on and/or wheel-off access must contact Silversea prior to making a booking. Silversea reserves the right to deny boarding to any guest who failed to notify Silversea of such requirement at the time of booking.
Silversea ships are equipped to offer wireless (Wi-Fi) Internet access. Guests can use their own laptop to surf the Internet and check emails at Wi-Fi locations throughout the ship, or from the comfort and privacy of their suite. Computers, email and Internet access are also available on board at the Internet Café. However, it is important to understand that telecommunication services while at sea are via satellite and significantly different than high-speed connections on land back home. The signal travels in a similar manner to radio waves but at much greater distances. Therefore, onboard Internet access is not guaranteed at all times. Satellite communications are also affected by weather and the ship's location.
Internet Service Fees
The same rates apply, whether accessing the Internet via personal laptop or via the Internet Café computers. All charges are posted directly to guests' onboard account. No credit is given for unused Time Plan minutes. Rates shown are in US dollars and are subject to change.

Cons: This is an old ship. Lots of noise in 4th floor with wave action. Distinct sewer scent at various times and places. Missed a port due to waves.
Review: My 40th cruise on Silversea and the Whisper has not been this good for a long time. Crew also excellent. Renovation of ship in past year mixed success. No more shops, just some open plan displays on Deck 5 lounge. Woodwork in rooms and verandas nit in the best shape. No more auto fresh fruit-on request. No more hot breakfast after 10 thru room service. However, food which is never a wow and rarely hot was consistently better and almost always delivered hot.

Cons: The ship needs to be refurbished. Tour options were lacking. It was repositioning and there was a lot of staff training so not all aspects ran smoothly
Review: I would recommend Silversea as a wonderful cruise line. My review should not be based on the fact that this was a repositioning cruise and is scheduled to go into dry dock later this year. There was a port originally on the itinerary, which would have enabled 2 days at sea, port visit and 2 more days at sea. The port is Russian so it was deleted, which made for a long 5 days at sea. Since the Whisper is small and the weather was cold, the outside facilities were not utilized (Outdoor restaurant, pool, jacuzzi, etc.). There were activities inside (lectures, trivia, bingo, etc) but it was the same everyday and it appeared that guests were getting bored. The entertainment schedule was changed a few times and the communication was not always perfect. Many guests were on waitlist for tours and never cleared, even though the tours were included. I would have loved to see more culturally immersion tours-seems to be the way travel is heading. I feel the cruise was nice but not anything special (based on tours, entertainment, crew training).

Review: the Whisper is currently not up to the fine standard of Silversea. Stained carpets in hallways, table on balcony worn and scuffed, scuffed paint in various places on the ship it would have been nice to have the cruise director or similar person give live talks each day about the excursions for the next day. they are available on the TV but in person experts would be better. the cooking class of how to make casa dias was amazingly silly - everyone knows how to make these already. something challenging would have been nice. if there are formal evenings during the cruise it would be good to have been made aware in the cruise information given.

Review: I really enjoyed this cruise although I was ill prepared for the unusually early cold spell. For the first several days, the temperatures were below freezing which limited the outdoor activities. The warmth was there in the ship. Great lectures (Female Astronaut Kathy Sullivan), professional crew, friendly atmosphere and plenty of opportunities to meet and greet. I give this experience a very good report because of the staff.

Review: Service from staff and all members of the ship was exceptional. The food was great with wonderful wine selections, and prices were much less than expected.
Outstanding loyal crew, exceptional service, intimacy you cannot achieve on many larger vessels, plenty of creature comforts in even the lead in Vista suites on Deck 4 . Generous size as Veranda suites (287 sq ft) just no balcony- walk in closets, butlers for every suite level, Veranda Suites are 345 sq feet with the veranda, My favorite suite is Silver Suite which are 701 sq feet, the wideness makes it like a little condo with separate bedroom, dining table bar, 2 TV areas. Shuttle buses are included free in most of the ports. This ship is dated, but it has got the right formula for intimate comfort. Love the open seating in Dining room, and the other restauants are easy to secure a reservation, not like other ships, where couples are begging the maitre d for a reservation as a $50 is slipped in the pocket. Not necessary here you are usually accommodated. The enrichment speakers are excellent, a statesman, a music director and jazz great John Altman, former BA Concorde Captain Rick, Roger MCGuinn of The Byrds-Turn turn turn. Legendary brilliant Cruise Director Fernando, Tracy Apple Ipad classes, The Voices of Silversea entertainment, with an operatic focus yet versatile, may be the best group of young talent on any ship. The list goes on.

Cons: Ship needs some TLC in drydock, pool decking issuws, pool furniture, some modern updates needed, Fitness class area too small for comfortable classes, needs some new plumbing and water tanks.

Very easy was embarkation in San Francisco at the cruise terminal. And because of the size of the ship and the outstanding crew, rarely will you find a queue. We left port from San Francisco off to 5 days at sea before reaching Hilo, Hawaii. Days at Sea were a perfect opportunity to settle in, sample the various activities and shows, and well just get to know each other. The ship visited Hilo, Maui, Honolulu then sailed 5 days at sea to reach Samoa, we crossed the international dateline and lost a day. Then on to Tonga, 2 days at sea, to Auckland, NZ. From there we sailed New Zealand then Australia from Newcastle, Sydney Melbourne, Adelaide, Fremantle, Geralton, Exmouth ( beautiful town tournament fishing but with more flies than people) The main ports thereafter were in Bali, Palawan(spectacular beaches) Manila, Taiwan, Japan ( we crossed International Dateline again) Shanghai, Hong Kong, Viet Nam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, Doha, Dubai, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Greece, Italy, Malta ending in Monaco.

Review: This is a beautiful ship -- small enough to get around easily, but large enough to have options. Service was excellent and friendly. No formal nights on this itinerary.

Review: It's like coming home when we take a new voyage. The staff greets you by name after the first day. The restaurant menus change daily with many updated options. The ship is small, with very experienced world travelers as passengers. If you want a mega ship with rock climbing walls, etc. Silversea is not a good choice. But, if you want refined luxury with a relaxed atmosphere Silversea is the answer.

Cons: Food doesn't live up to billing and Relais and Chateaux connection. It's good, but not great. Menus are limited. Wine service is generous with lots of choices and non-stop pours. Cabin carpeting and fabrics are looking a bit tired.
Review: We sailed with a group of friends, enjoyed the cruise very much and would sail with Silversea again. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It is somewhat misleading to say that Stockholm and Copenhagen are part of the cruise. They are starting and ending points, and to see them, you have to book extra time on your own or through the ship. Wi fi service was $30 per day and spotty at that. It will supposedly be offered at no charge beginning in 2016.
